In polycarbonate/epoxy resin blends, both hydrogen bonding between the two components and entanglements between PC chains and epoxy resin networks hinder phase separation and can result in some single phase morphologies. However, on certain condition, PC spherulites were able to form companying with the formation of epoxy network. The curing of epoxy resin modified the crystallization mechanism, the melting behavior and the morphology. The nuclei are likely to be preexisting high molecular weight PC chain and are formed by the special interaction between PC molecules and primary network. Low molecular epoxy resin increases the crystallization rate. The internal fractionation changes by PC chain scission during melting mixing process has an important influence on the crystallization. It has been found that some unique features on the thermal and mechanical properties were related to intermolecular interaction and morphologies of blends.
