This paper deals with numerical analysis of static and dynamic wind effects on civil engineering structures. Present study employs the following three schemes to solve problems: arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian kinematic description method which can model wind-structure interaction effects; Streamline Upwind Petrov-Galerkin(SUPG) method that is numerically stable and accurate; efficient explicit methods which can save computation time for nonlinear dynamic transient problems. Applicability of adopted laminar model is investigated by the comparison study of computational results on various sectional shapes and Reynolds numbers with their experimental counterparts. Computational procedures for drag and lift coefficients, and vortex shedding frequencies which are important in the wind-resistant structural design are presented. Aeroelastic behaviors of structures such as resonance and lock-in are also studied.
