Background : Analysis of variance of the intraindividuals with the ICG-Rmax and the per rectal thallium-201 liver scan (shunt index) is a way to find out their reproducibilities and also raises their utilities. Thus, it is considered as a facilitating evaluation of the drug effects in developing the remedies for the chronic liver disease. Method : The ICG-Rmax and the per rectal Thallium-201 liver scan (shunt index) were taken 3 and 4 times at week intervals for each 16 HBsAg healthy carrier confirmed by a liver biopsy. ANOVA was used as statistical method. Result : 1) The mean ${pm}$ standard deviation of the shunt index and ICG-Rmax were $0.24;{pm};0.10$, $3.59;{pm};1.74;mg/kg/min$. 2) The variance of the individuals in the whole group was calculated as 0.001 (p=0.884) with the shunt index, so there was no statistical significance. Also, there were no statistical significances in the male group (0.004, p=0.794) and the female group (0.0002, p=0.934). 3) The variance of the individual in the whole group was calculated as 9.127 (p=0.027) with the ICG-Rmax, so there was statistical significance. Additionally, there was statistical significance in the male group (6.573, p=0.032) but, not in the female group (3.755, p=0.401). 4) In shunt index, l1/16 patients lie between mean ${pm}$ 1SD, and 15/16 patents lie between mean ${pm}$ 2SD. In ICG-Rmax, 2/16 patients and 14/16 patients respectively. Conclusion : According to the results of the tests mentioned above, the reproducibility of the Thallium-201 liver scan is high but the that of ICG-Rmax is relatively low, compared to the former.
