미국흰불나방(Hyphantria cunea)의 유충 혈림프로부터 열처리 (75$^{circ}C$)와 2회의 anion exchange chromatography에 의해 철저장단백질인 ferritin이 정제되었다. Ferritin은 열처리된 혈림프에서 QAE-Toyopearl 550 C column에 의해 1차로 분리되었으며, 2차로 FPLC system을 이용한 TSK-gel DEAE-650M column에서 정제되었다. 정제된 ferritin은 silver stain에 의해 단일 밴드로 나타났다. Ferritin의 분자량은 약 730 kDa이며, 26, 31, 32 kDa인 3종의 소단위로 이루어져 있다.
The isolation and purification of ferritin, iron transport and storage protein, from fall webworm, Hyphantria cunea were accomplished by heat treatment at 75$^{circ}C$, and by anion exchange column chromatography (QAE-Toyopearl 550 C column and TSK-gel DEAE-650 M column) in FPLC system. The purified ferritin showed only one band by silver stain. Ferritin was found to have M.W. of 730 kDa and composed of three subunits of 26, 31 and 32 kDa.
