TixZr1-xC(0<x<1) solid solutions were prepared from the mixture of metal titanium, zirconium and carbon powders in vacuum by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. The characterization of synthesized powder and sintered body were investigated. From the result on the measurement temperature profile during synthesize processing the combustion temperature and velocity of (Ti0.5Zr0.5)C solid solution showed the lowest value of 255$0^{circ}C$, 5.1 mm/sec respectively. The relative density, three point flexural strength, and the hardness of composites, which was sintered at 190$0^{circ}C$ for 60 min by using hot-pressing under a pressure of 30 MPa, were 99%, 525 MPa and 24 GPa respectively.
