Even though advocates of TQM emphasize the role of TQM more than before, the interest of the public at large have decreased in recent years. In order to explain the perceptual gap between the advocates and general public, three questions were considered: 1) Is TQM a dying fadulcorner 2) Does TQM focus on a particular facet of managementulcorner 3) Does TQM pursue incremental improvement, while reengineering pursue breakthrough innovationulcorner It is also discussed how can we extend the horizon of TQM so as to integrate new management theories into the framework of TQM.
