우리나라 도서관은 후진성을 면하지 못하고 있다. 도서관 이용자들의 의식도 전근대성을 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 이러한 가운데 도서관계에 불어닥친 구조조정 바람과 타 직종과의 무한경쟁 상황은 우리나라 도서관 현장을 위기로 몰아 넣고 있다. 현장의 위기는 학문의 위기로 돌아오고 있다. 이에 우리 학문과 현장에 불어닥친 위기는 어떠한 것이고, 그 동안 우리 학문은 무엇이 문제였는지를 살펴보고 있다. 이를 바탕으로 학문과 현장이 이 땅에 굳건히 뿌리내릴 수 있는 방안을 제시하고 있다.
Today, the state of libraries in cur country is behind the times and the consdousness of people who use l i e s falls behind, too. Meanwhile, the workout and unlimited competitions have resulted in the crisis on the state of our libraries. The crisis on the state of cur libraries has led to that of our discipline. In this paper, I study the causes of crises in our discipline and libmies. I suggest some methods to cure the illnesses. Key Words : crisis on library, library mvenent, library and information science
