This study has aimed at gaining basic data for the factory automation of manufacturing custom-made girdles. For this study, obese women in their 30s and 40s were measured with anthropometry and a 3D scanner. Based upon the results of feeling test of wearing, individually designed girdles were made, and the clothing pressure and the feelings of wearing such girdles were analyzed. The test results of the feeling of wearing the experimental girdles showed that the second, custom-made experimental girdles was better in terms of restraining feeling, correction of body-shape, and psychological satisfaction than the first ones made according to the existing grading system. The degree of discomfort was also tested on each part of the body and the feeling of discomfort caused by the clothing pressure was found to be relatively low. According to the test results of the clothing pressure, the second experimental girdles marked the higher pressure than the first on every part of the body, especially on hips and thighs. So it can be concluded that the second experimental girdles are better than the first in lifting up the hips. It is expected that the design methods developed in this study can be utilized as basic resources for the factory automation system of manufacturing custom-made girdles.
