Though a great deal of secondary metabolites and their bioactivities were discovered from the plants of the genus Hovenia, the structure-activity relationship was not well defined. To facilitate further pharmacological research and development in this area, we have summarized the progress of phytochemical and pharmacological research on the plants of the genus Hovenia.
