The paper presents the objective, organization, and activities of The Korean Society for Marine Environmental Engineering (KOSMEE) along with the current environmental problems in Korea. The efforts of the government agencies, academic and industrial sectors in preserving the marine environments in Korea are introduced. A few ideas for the future collaborative efforts in reducing the challenging marine environmental problems between Japan and Korea are proposed.
