Compared with the Certification Requirements for Professional Engineer in other country, those of Korean are not satisfactory. This is due to a few facts such as no relation with accreditation of engineering education and no separation of technical field and engineering field. Eventually, this problem makes it impossible to ensure the international mobility of Korean professional engineers. This research reviews the international trends regarding the professional engineer certification requirements, compares the requirements of Korea and other countries, proposes three alternatives for improvement, and suggests two implementation plans for the alternatives.
