High-$Ca^{2+}$ limestone is widely used as a raw material in high-value-added industries due to its high inflected character. However, nearly all forms of low-$Ca^{2+}$ limestone are now out of use in high added-value industries. This is especially true for precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) due to its low inflected characteristics. PCC manufactured from High-$Ca^{2+}$ limestone is used as a raw material in the paper, paint, rubber, and plastic industries, among others. In this study, various quick limes were obtained from low-$Ca^{2+}$ limestone through changes in such factors as the calcination temperature and the calcination time. The shape of the PCC powder produced through hydration and carbonation, and the whiteness of each step (raw limestone, quicklime, hydrated lime and calcium carbonate) was also investigated. It was concluded that the calcination characteristic of low-$Ca^{2+}$ limestone affects the shape of the PCC powder depending on the type of impurity. Moreover, it is possible to use some types of low-$Ca^{2+}$ limestone as raw materials for PCC.
