This study attempted to investigate the early admissions of B.Arch. (Bachelor of Architecture) Programs in Korea in terms of architectural aptitude screening. It examined the early admissions of the twenty eight B.Arch. programs accredited until the end of 2010 by the Korean Architectural Accrediting Board and analyzed the early admissions by dividing them into general admissions, special admissions, and admissions officer system. Statistically, the rate of the admissions which screened architectural aptitude was about 46% of the total quota of the 2011 early admissions recruitment. The characteristics or the problems of Korean admissions screening architectural aptitude are as follows. Firstly, the small categories of the early admissions screening architectural aptitude are very complicated and yearly changeable. Second, the marking system and the requirements of the each category are far different one another. Thirdly, a general method to screen architectural aptitude is an interview or multi-stage interviews. Although a high school GPA is a generally critical element in the screening of the early admissions, but the quality evaluation of the multi-stage interviews is gradually recognized as an another important marking criterion. Finally, universities and architectural schools gradually provide high school students with more various kinds of programs including architectural design workshops as connecting programs between high schools and universities.
