The purpose of this study is to provide the fundamental data for the development of the research of the early childhood English education. The case was studied through the research trend and its analysis of the early childhood and the elementary English education.
In total, 1119 dissertations were used as the objects of this study. Among those, 40 dissertations were published from 1983 to August of 2003 in the field of early childhood education. The rests, 1079 were published from 1983 to August of 2003 in the field of elementary education.
The data was analyzed with the SPSS Program to obtain the frequency and percentage.
As the result, in the early childhood English education, the realities and the analysis of the problems of the English education were published the most, and then the teaching method, teachers’ study, acquirement and development of the language, and necessity and foundation were followed. In the elementary English education, the teaching methods were published the most, and then learner-centered study, analysis of teaching materials, realities and problems, and acquirement and development of the language were followed.
The study of English education of the early childhood and elementary education were influenced a lot as the English education in elementary school became obligated in 1997.
