본 연구의 목적은 유아 영어교육과 초등 영어교육의 연구동향과 경향 분석을 통하여 유아 영어교육 분야의 다양한 연구개발을 위해 기초자료를 제공하는데 있다. 본 연구의 분석대상 논문은 유아교육 분야에서 1983년부터 2003년 8월까지 발표된 40권과 초등교육 분야에서 1991년부터 2003년 8월까지 발표된 1079권을 합하여 총 1119권 이다. 분석기준에 의해 수집된 자료는 모두 빈도와 백분율로 처리되었다. 연구결과, 유아 영어교육은 영어교육의 실태 및 문제점 분석에 관한 연구가 가장 많이 발표되었고, 교수-학습 방법, 교사연구, 언어습득 및 발달, 필요성 및 근거 순으로 연구가 나타났다. 또한 초등 영어교육은 교수-학습 방법에 관한 연구가 가장 많이 발표되었고, 학습자 중심 연구, 멀티미디어, 교재분석, 실태 및 문제점, 언어습득 및 발달 순으로 연구가 나타났다. 유아와 초등의 영어교육의 연구는 1997년 초등학교 영어교육의 의무화에 따라 많은 영향을 받은 것으로 분석 되었다.
The purpose of this study is to provide the fundamental data for the development of the research of the early childhood English education. The case was studied through the research trend and its analysis of the early childhood and the elementary English education. In total, 1119 dissertations were used as the objects of this study. Among those, 40 dissertations were published from 1983 to August of 2003 in the field of early childhood education. The rests, 1079 were published from 1983 to August of 2003 in the field of elementary education. The data was analyzed with the SPSS Program to obtain the frequency and percentage. As the result, in the early childhood English education, the realities and the analysis of the problems of the English education were published the most, and then the teaching method, teachers’ study, acquirement and development of the language, and necessity and foundation were followed. In the elementary English education, the teaching methods were published the most, and then learner-centered study, analysis of teaching materials, realities and problems, and acquirement and development of the language were followed. The study of English education of the early childhood and elementary education were influenced a lot as the English education in elementary school became obligated in 1997.
