The aim of this study is to examine the major and overall status of visual impaired
schools and the desire of teachers in order to propose a reasonable and
comprehensive improvement plan. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was
carried out to 91 teachers and instructors out of 101 who were in charge of the
major department in visual impaired schools on the major, operational status and
improvement measures. Based on the result, the study figured out improvement
measures and implication on the major and operation of visual impaired schools. The
results are as below. Firstly, as for the major and operational status of visual
impaired schools, vocational educations on major and curriculum were carried out in
most schools, and teachers and instructors understood the major, installation ideal and
objectives well, and they also had effective and smooth major operation ability by
means of autonomous curriculum development and operation, effective facility and
device management. And, operation was carried in the areas of link of major to high
school, vocational training requirement, employment by major, employment rate after
graduation, facility and equipment requirement, leaning tool equipment, teacher
training and budget. Secondly, as for major and operational improvement measure of
visual impaired schools, the job selected by the major had a moderate level
assistance to employment, which indicates the need of various job findings and
development.
