본 연구는 Arnheim의 시각적 사고이론에 근거하여 그림책의 그림읽기 지도방안을 구안하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위하여 시각적 사고를 학문적으로 발전시키고, 실증적 근거를 확립한 Arnheim의 대표적 저서와 연구물들을 기초하여 문헌분석을 실시하였고, 도출된 특성에 맞추 어 지도전략을 제시하였다. 연구결과 그림읽기 지도방안의 근거가 되는 시각적 사고의 특성 은 능동적인 인지활동, 시지각적 기억에 기초, 통찰과 유사, 맥락의 이해 필요, 언어를 수반하 는 고도의 지적인 활동으로 나타났다. 그리고 각각의 특성에 기초한 지도방안으로 첫째, 그림 문법을 이해한다. 둘째, 그림의 내용을 최대한 기억한다. 셋째, 그림의 구조를 이해한다. 넷째, 상호텍스트성과 스키마를 활용하여 그림을 읽는다. 다섯째, 그림을 읽고 언어화한다로 제시하 였다. 이와 같은 그림읽기 지도 방안은 그림읽기 지도에 대한 관심을 환기시키고, 유아들의 그림읽기 능력을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
This study starts on the premise that text and pictures are important in picture book reading. It begins on how to improve young children's literacy and ability to read pictures. The research problems are to know the characteristics of visual thinking and to find teaching strategies for reading picture book through visual thinking. Reading pictures in a picture book is exploring, interpreting, and criticizing the book. In order to understand the picture reading process, one needs to know about visual thinking activities and to teach reading pictures based on the characteristics of visual thinking characteristics. The characteristics of visual thinking characteristics in Arnheim’s were found theory about reading pictures. Arnheim’s visual thinking theory is a significant one in this field; It clearly explains visual thinking characteristics. Thus it worked as a useful theoretical basis in finding teaching strategies in the various methods of reading pictures. This study intends to draw attention to the importance of reading pictures and, by elucidating the characteristics of visual thinking, to establish strategies of applying visual thinking to picture reading. The application of visual thinking to picture reading Will enhance young children's ability to read pictures properly and eventually help them be well equipped with literary attainments.
