Therapeutic work-related pain arising from irritation of myofascial, periarticular or articular tissues can be acute or chronic. Poor posture or sustained posture can also cause therapeutic work-related pain. Therapeutic work-related pain can be localized in one area, or widespread. We performed this study to determine therapeutic work-related pain aspects incurred by physical therapist. Self-reported questionnaires were given to 250 physical therapists in Gangwon Province. Among physical therapists, therapeutic work-related pain commonly affected the low back (17.6%), shoulder (17.1%) and wrist (13.1%). The sites of severe therapeutic work-related pain were the low back (30.1%), shoulder (29.3%) and wrist (12.0%). Therapeutic work-related pain is thought to involve the physical environment; therapeutic work-related demand, insufficient job control and therapeutic work-related stress. To reduce the therapeutic work-related pain, we need intervention strategies such as ergonomic preventive education, ergonomically designed medical assistant equipment, plenty of time to work conditions and improved mechanical conditions related to therapeutic work-related patterns.
