본 연구는 유치원과 유아환경교육센터가 협력하면서 유아환경교육프로그램을 운영하는 과정에 참여한 유치원의 유아와 교사의 경험이 어떠한 지 밝히는 것이다. 자료 수집은 질적 연구의 타당도와 신뢰도 를 높이기 위하여 교사일지와 저널, 면담, 이메일과 전화통화, 유아관찰 및 연구자 저널수집 등 다면 적으로 이루어졌다. 수집된 자료는 교사와 유아 별로 통합하고 영역, 하위영역별 범주화 및 해석과정 을 거쳤다. 연구결과, 유아는 ‘활동 주제인 황새에 대한 높은 내적 동기 유발상태에서 센터의 활동참 여’, ‘센터의 추가적 지원을 통한 활동 주제에 대한 확장된 탐구’, ‘환경문제 인식에 기초한 지역사회 참여 의지 발현’, ‘활동 주제인 황새 돕기 기금 마련에 적극적 동참’ 등의 경험을 하는 것으로 나타났 다, 교사의 경험으로는 ‘협력과정 초기에는 자신의 역할에 대한 이해부족으로 인한 부담감’, 이후 협력 과정 중 점차 ‘프로그램 주제에 대한 몰입과 협력자로서의 역할’, ‘센터 프로그램에 대한 비평적 의견 제안 및 전문가로서의 성장’, ‘지역사회 참여방안 모색 및 실천’으로 드러났다.
The purpose of this study is to explore experiences of the young children and teachers who have participated in the collaboration process between environmental education center and kindergarten. Data collected by teacher's journal, interviews with teachers and observations during the collaboration procedure between two educational institutes. Collected data were analyzed using a thematic approach by involved teachers and researchers. As a results, we found as follow: For young children, they have had strong motives about ‘stork’ that is theme of the activity before attending the center's program and have extended inquiries about stork through extra support of the environmental education center. These experiences made young children have self-motivation to involve their community based on the recognition of environmental problems and organize fund-raising for stork as an active participant. For teachers, they felt the burden by the lack of understanding of their role as a teacher in the beginning stage of collaboration. After involving the collaboration, however, they engaged in making decisions on the topic for a program as a collaborator. They also showed their professional development by suggesting critical views for center's programs and ways of involving in local community.
