본 연구는 국가 정책적으로 도입된 융합교육의 지식 나열식 교수·학습의 한계를 극복하고 융 합적 사고를 육성하는 융합교육의 구현 원리를 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여, 본 연구에서 는 학습자 중심의 교육이 융합교육의 본질이며, 학습자 중심의 교수·학습 구현을 위해서는 ‘탄력적 학습 환경’이 구축되어야 함을 제안하였다. ‘탄력적 학습 환경’의 주요 요인으로서, ‘내 용 조직의 핵심성(essentiality)’과 ‘교수·학습 맥락의 융통성(flexibility)’을 관련 문헌 분석을 통하여 탐색하였고, 융합교육 교수·학습 사례를 이 두 요인에 기반하여 분석하였다. ‘내용 조 직의 핵심성’은 교육과정 및 교수·학습 내용을 ‘개념 기반’으로 구조화하기 위한 원리이며, ‘교 수·학습 맥락의 융통성’은 교수·학습의 맥락을 ‘상황에 맞게’ 조직하기 위한 원리이다. 이 두 원리는 현장 교사들의 융합교육 실천 사례로 부터 도출된 것으로서, 교수·학습 및 교육과정 조직을 위한 실제적 방안으로서 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
This study aimed at exploring the principles of convergence education through investigating its teaching and learning practices. The study suggested that authenticity of convergence education derive from learner-centered education, rather than knowledge-based education, and examined the components of flexible learning environment, essentiality and flexibility. Then, the principles of convergence education were articulated as “essentiality” for organizing and structuring learning contents, and “flexibility” for constructing flexible learning environment through examination of learner-centered teaching and learning practices. These two principles are expected to be utilized as a practical way for schools to build up the structure of curriculum, teaching and learning practices, and flexible learning environment, as they were based on professional teachers’ pedagogical experience.
