This study aimed at exploring the principles of convergence education
through investigating its teaching and learning practices. The study suggested that
authenticity of convergence education derive from learner-centered education, rather
than knowledge-based education, and examined the components of flexible learning
environment, essentiality and flexibility. Then, the principles of convergence
education were articulated as “essentiality” for organizing and structuring learning
contents, and “flexibility” for constructing flexible learning environment through
examination of learner-centered teaching and learning practices. These two
principles are expected to be utilized as a practical way for schools to build up
the structure of curriculum, teaching and learning practices, and flexible learning
environment, as they were based on professional teachers’ pedagogical experience.
