본 연구에서는 군 병사의 내현적 자기애와 대인관계능력 및 군 생활 적응과의 관계를 살펴보고, 병사들의 내현적 자기애와 군 생활 적응과의 관계에서 대인관계능력이 매개 하는지를 알아보았다. 본 연구는 강원도 00 군 소재하는 보병대대 전투병 356명을 표본 집단으로 선정하였다. 이들에게 Akhtar와 Thomson(1982)의 내현 적 자기애 척도를 사용하여 강선희(2002)가 수정, 보완한 척도를 Schlein과 Guerney의 관계성변화 척도를, 문 선모(1980)가 대인관계능력 척도로 한국판으로 수정, 보완한 척도를, Stauffer, Suchaman, Devinney. star & Willims(1949)가 만든 군 생활 적응 척도를, 이윤희(1963)가 번역하고, 신태수(1981)가 수정, 보완한 척도를 실 시하였다. 본 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 주요 변인들 간에 상관분석결과, 군 병사의 내현적 자기애가 군 생활 적응과는 부적인 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 대인관계능력은 내현적 자기애와는 부적인 상관, 군 생활 적응 간에는 정적인 상관으로 나타났다. 둘째, 군 병사의 내현적 자기애와 군 생활 적응과의 관계에서 대인관계능력의 매개효과를 검증한 결과, 병사의 내현적 자기애와 군 생활 적응과의 관계에서 대인관계능력이 완전매개 하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구는 군 생활 적응을 돕는데 있어서 대인관계능력 향상을 위한 지휘관심 제고와 다양한 프로그램을 병영 내에서 적용할 필요성을 시사해주고 있다. 또한, 군 생활 적응을 위 해서는 상담을 통해 대인관계능력을 높여줄 필요가 있다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 군 집중인성교육과 집단상 담을 통해 대인관계능력 향상으로 군 생활 적응을 돕고, 사고를 예방 할 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.
This research examines the relationship between soldiers' covert narcissism and military adjustment, and found that interpersonal competence mediates the effect of soldiers' covert narcissism on military adjustment. This research chose 356 foot-soldiers belonging to Gangwon-do Ist army as the sample group, and used the covert narcissism scale of Akhtar and Thomson(1982); the revised and complemented scale of Gang Sun Hee(2002); the relationship change scale of Schlein and Guerney; the interpersonal competence scale revised and complemented into the Korean version of Moon Sun Mo(1980); the military adjustment scale made by Stauffer, Suchaman, Devinney, Star, and Williams(1949); and the scale translated by Lee Yoon Hee(1963) and revised and complemented by Sin Tae Su(1981) to conduct the survey. The result of this research can be summarized as follows. First, relative analysis of the major variables showed military soldiers' covert narcissism had a negative correlation with military adjustment. Interpersonal competence had a negative correlation with covert narcissism, and a positive correlation with military adjustment. Second, after testing the mediating effect of interpersonal competence upon the relationship between soldiers’covert narcissism and military adjustment, interpersonal competence was shown to have a completely mediating effect upon the relationship between soldiers’covert narcissism and military adjustment. Accordingly, by lowering the inclination of covert narcissism through personal counseling; applying increased interest in command and various programs in the barracks; deep analysis of the inclination toward covert narcissism of soldiers who failed to adjust through counseling; and raising interpersonal competence through military concentrated character education and group counseling, military adjustment was induced, and a counseled implication that accidents could hereby be prevented was deduced.
