The purpose of this study was to examine the usefulness in social work interventions and limitations of the spiritual genogram by analyzing the related literature that has been used in human service field, comparing to standard genogram and presenting direct case studies regarding spiritual genogram and its practices. More specifically, this study provides useful information for social workers that includes specially designed spiritual genogram and its assessment methods that can be utilized by social workers to identify spiritual and religious strengths of clients within the family system and apply these strengths to social work intervention. Also, this study contains several case studies of spiritual genogram and its intervention procedures that are elaborately explained and discussed. Lastly, this study suggests the effective methods of using spiritual genogram in social work practices so that it can be more useful assessment and intervention tools for social workers.
