The purpose of this study is to explore the desirable application models of local
community programs put the focus on the utilization of cultural heritage. Recently, with
the higher interest about the fact that tourist industry has a lot of clout in local
economy, many local governments are seeking for ways to activate the local economy
through the cultural assets.
well-designed cultural heritage program can identify new value of heritage without
compromising the look of the original and it can give self-esteem and provide
opportunities for residents to enjoy culture. Furthermore, it would create added value
and contribute to local community activation.
as specific case, this study examines the winning proposal of heritage utilization
IPO(invite public participation) of Gyeonggi-do ‘the kung-kwang! kung-kwang!
dinosaur scarecrow formative arts festival’. The study considers the contents and
execution process of the project proposal and the possibility of a regional program by
the local cultural heritage.
In conclusion, local community program of leveraging cultural heritage has great
value and a high potential which can redefine the identity of the region and bring local
culture revival.
