As contemporary society has become more complex and rapidly changing, the economic education in social studies education needs the consilient approach connecting other areas such as natural science. As for the contents, the human nature about economy and the rational decision making were examined by the scientific concepts and theories such as sociobiology and sociophysics. The human nature about economy is not only self-interest and rational, but also altruistic and bounded-rational. And the rational decision making is not a simple cost-benefit analysis. It needs to be readjusted in the framework of risk and safety. As for the methods, the significance of the experiments and the debates were considered from the consilient viewpoint. We can deal with the social themes by the method of the experiments. And we can use the natural scientific concepts and theories at the debate lessons. Based on these contents and methods, the experiment lesson of the human nature about economy and the debate lesson of the rational decision making were planned. At these lessons, the human nature about economy is treated not as an a priori axiom but as a testable hypothesis. And the rational decision making is something multi-dimensional rather than one-dimensional. By taking these consilient lessons, students will be able to see the economic phenomena with widely differing views and to apply new alternatives to the economic problems.
