The change of contaminant concentration and their characteristics in sediments was
examined in two reservoirs which different pollutants are flowing into. Since the
accumulation of large amounts of organic matter, the ignition loss of the reservoir in
semi-urban areas was more than a reservoir of rural areas. And also, n-Hexane extracts
and leaching concentrations of heavy metals were higher in semi-urban areas. However, T-N
and T-P concentrations were higher in the reservoir of rural areas than that of
semi-urban areas, because there are many source of nutrients in rural areas. In
particular, all pollutants except for nutrients in sediment had accumulated more in
winter than in summer. The content of COD has increased in proportion to the ignition
loss in sediment. However, although the content of T-N and T-P also tended to increase
with increase of the loss on ignition, its fluctuations were very loud.
