Clean syngas can be obtained from the plasma pyrolysis-gasification-melting of wastes and high purity hydrogen can be recovered by the WGS reaction and PSA process of the syngas. A process has been developed to produce high purity hydrogen using Adplatech's 3 ton/day plasma waste treatment system connected with a hydrogen refinement/recovery system. The syngas produced from the gasification equipment is sent to theWGS reactor after boosting to 10 atm by a gas compressor. In theWGS reactor CO in the syngas is converted into hydrogen, after which high purity hydrogen is produced by removing impurities by PSA system. WGS system consists of HTS and LTS reactor considering the rate of shift reaction and yield. The PSA system consists of four adsorption-beds charged of proper adsorbents to remove CO, CO2, N2, moisture, etc. The performance of the installed WGS and PSA system in conjunction with the plasma facilitywas tested.
