This study aims to clarify the relationship between satisfaction with college life and
subjective happiness of college students who participate in leisure activities. As for
research subjects, samples were selected from the population of college students in
Seoul. 300 questionnaires were collected in total and excluding 7 which were
inappropriately or incompletely answered, 293 questionnaires were used for final
analysis. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 statistical program for
frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis,
and simple regression analysis. The result of verification between the relationship of
variables are as follows. First, there was no difference in satisfaction with college life
depending on demographic variables of college students’ participation in leisure
activities. Second, in the analysis of subjective happiness depending on demographic
variables of college students’ participation in leisure activities, there were no
differences in gender among the factors of environment and personality, and in
gender, school year, and frequency of participation among the factors of life events
and participation in activities. Third, among sub factors of subjective happiness of
college students who participate in leisure activities, the factor of environment and
personality did not have influence on the sub factors of satisfaction with college life,
satisfaction with school and peer relationship, while factors of life events and
participation in activities had an influence on both satisfaction with school and peer
relationship among the sub factors of satisfaction with college life. In conclusion, in
order to raise satisfaction with college life and enhance subjective happiness of
students by encouraging participation in various and active leisure activities and by
providing differentiated leisure programs, realistic and practical measures should be
taken.
