This study is intended to investigate the effect of art therapy including
creative experiential activities on academic self-regulatory efficacy, confidency,
and motivation regulation of an adolescent boy with Vasovagal Syncope. The
participant of this research is a second grade male student from a high
school in S city. The art therapy was conducted 18 times in total, from Aug,
14th to Feb 14th in 2014 (1 or 2 times per week, 50-60 minutes a session).
The research tools are the academic self-regulatory efficacy scale and
motivational regulation strategy scale. The data were compared and analysed
in percentage terms and scores from pre-test, post-test and follow-up test.
The findings are as follows: First, art therapy including creative experiential
activities had a positive impact on an adolescent with Vasovagal Syncope to
his improvement of academic self-regulatory efficacy. Second, art therapy
including creative experiential activities had a positive impact on an adolescent
with Vasovagal Syncope to his improvement of academic confidence. Third,
art therapy including creative experiential activities had a positive impact on
an adolescent with Vasovagal Syncope to his improvement of motivation
regulation. Follow-up test indicated that the effect of art therapy sustains as
well. In conclusion, art therapy including creative activities had a positive
effect on academic self-regulatory efficacy, confidency, and motivation
regulation of an adolescent with Vasovagal Syncope.
