이 연구는 장애인평생교육･복지 관점에서 김성수 주교의 삶과 교육활동의 실천을 1973년 부터 분석하여 장애인평생교육･복지가 지향해야 할 실증적 교육상을 구체화하고자 하였다. 그가 교육업적을 지속 가능케 한 활동의 원천으로서 장애인평생 교육적 함의를 도출하였다. 자료 수집은 2013년 4월부터 2014년 12월까지 심층면담 전사 자료와 사진 그리고 문서자료와 보조 연구제보자자료를 바탕으로 이루어졌다. 녹취한 자료는 전사하고 부호화하여 개념화하 였고 1차 분석에서 도출한 소주제를 포괄하는 중간 분류 주제를 찾은 이후, 속성이 유사한 중간 주제를 찾고 분류해나가면서 범주화하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 진정성이다. 소외된 외로운 경험에서 장애인과 소통하려 하였으며 가족과 같은 마음으로 장애인을 목적적 존재로 보았 으므로 사랑과 물질을 나눌 수 있었다. 둘째, 지속성이다. 장애 가정이 처한 현실은 그로 하 여금 그들을 도와야겠다는 결심을 다지며 시련을 극복하게 하는 힘이 되어 40 여년을 이어 갈 수 있었다. 셋째, 현실성이다. 진정성 있는 실천과 지속 가능케 한 인내의 결과들이 장애 인의 실질적인 삶에서 현실적인 결과물로 나타났다. 즉 인내를 가지고 그 일을 지속할 수 있 게 한 것은 장애인을 향한 진정성 있는 사랑의 실천이었다. 결국, 장애인평생교육･복지는 ʻ함 께 생활한다.ʼ는 것으로 현실적인 나누는 삶의 기쁨을 고통과 함께 나누며 살자는 것이다.
This study tried to present symbol of practice by finding positive practician as making a bluepoint about concrete practical goal of lifelong education and welfare. This study analyzed educational achievement of his life together people with disabilities for forty years as finding concrete life-history from 1973, before legislating of Act on the Promotion of Education for the Handicapped Data collection consisted through deep-interview of participant of this study and informants of four persons, and documents about him from April, 2013 to Dec. 2014. Collected data was conceptualized and encoded after transcription of interviewing contents, and was found a number of subtopic through first analyzing and classified and categorized mid-theme with similar features. Through the repetition of analysis and interpretation of his life, his life is tangled with the past, present and the future. The results are as follows. First, that was sincerity. He lived with mind like the family of person with disability and he tried to communicate with them because he suffered from tuberculosis when he was young. So he could share his love and property. Second, that was continuity. He saw pitiable condition of family with disability and so he spent with them for forty years. The faced circumstance of family with disability became the strength to overcome and he made a decision to help them. Third, that was reality. The practice of sincerity and continuity of him appeared as Saint Peter special school, toy library, woori-village, day-care center and group home in the reality. In conclusion, the lifelong education and welfare for people with disabilities is to live together them. This can be explain as triple causal relationship. With triple logic of subject-object-method, lifelong education and welfare for people with disabilities involves significance that the people with disabilities are just subjects and we have to share our lives with them. Ultimately, the life long education and welfare for people with disabilities implies to share pleasure and pain of life in the reality.
