The purpose of this study was to develop a color-based art therapy education
program which may be applied in terms of emotional education in a school
environment for adolescents who are going through difficult times due to the
complexities of rapid physical growth, psychological and internal changes, and
worries about study and career. This study presented the process of embodying a
color-based art therapy education program with five steps. In order to measure the
effectiveness of the program, it was applied for 12 sessions, once per week for 45
minutes, to the juniors of a middle school located in the metropolitan area, using
creative experiential learning hours. Analysis of covariance(ANCOVA) was
conducted for the experimental results from the experimental groups, the
comparison and control groups. In results, the experimental group’s lack of
emotional identity and expression was significantly ameliorated compared to that of
the comparison and the control groups(F=3.14, p<.05). Second, the experimental
group’s Alexithymia significantly decreased compared to the comparison and the
control groups(F=4.63, p<.01). Third, experimental group’s emotional regulations
was significantly ameliorated compared to that of the control group(F=3.50, p<.05).
