이 연구는 Fogarty의 교육과정 통합 모형이 우리나라 초등학교 교육과정 통합에 주는 시사점을 발견하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 설정하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여, 이 연구에서는 Fogarty의 교육과정 통합 모형을 간략하게 살펴보고, 각각의 모형의 개요를 제시하였다. 그리고 각 각의 모형에 따른 교육과정 통합의 절차 및 유의점을 제시하고, Fogarty의 10가지 교육과정 통합 모 형을 적용하여 초등학교 4학년의 교과 및 창의적 체험활동의 교육과정 통합을 예시로 설계하였다. Fogarty의 10가지 교육과정 통합 모형이 초등학교 교육과정 통합에 주는 시사점을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, Fogarty의 교육과정 통합 모형은 통합교육과정 설계자에게 교육과정 통합에 대한 인식 및 통합교육과정 설계에 대한 효능감을 향상시키는데 적합할 것으로 기대된다. 둘째, Fogarty의 교 육과정 통합 모형은 통합교육과정 설계자에게 각 교과의 특성, 통합교육과정의 목적에 기초하여 10 가지 교육과정 통합 모형 중에서 특정 모형으로 교육과정을 설계하는 지침을 제공할 것으로 기대된 다. 셋째, Fogaty의 10가지 교육과정 통합 모형은 통합교육과정 설계에 대한 교사의 래퍼토리를 확 장시키는 기회를 제공할 것으로 기대된다. 이 연구에서 제시한 Fogarty의 교육과정 통합 모형 및 예 시가 초등 교사들의 교육과정통합에 대한 래퍼토리를 확장하고, 단위 학교에서 교육과정 통합을 실 현하는 데 기여하기를 기대한다.
The purpose of this study was to suggest implications of elementary school curriculum integrating by using Fogarty’s models such as segmental, connected, concentric circle, sequenced, sharing, spider-webbed, linear, integrated, immersed and networked models. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the study was to briefly review and outline Fogarty’s model. And, this study was designed for practices of curriculum integration in the fourth grade by applying Fogarty’s model. The conclusions of this study was as follows. Firstly, the Fogarty’s model was expected to improve recognition and efficacy of curriculum integrating design by curriculum designers. Secondly, Fogarty’s model was expected to provide guidance for designing a curriculum by curriculum designers. Thirdly, Fogaty’s model was expected to provide an opportunity to increase repertory of teachers for integrated curriculum design. This study was expected to contribute to the curriculum integration.
