The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships
between perceived health status and health-related lifestyles for the
community-dwelling 257 elderly Koreans. Almost half of them
reported that they were diagnosed as patients of neuralgia,
arthritis, hypertension, diabetes and so on. At the same time, more
than ⅓ of them showed higher than 140mmHg in their systolic
blood pressure measurement. Nevertheless, many elderly people
responded that they preferred to eating salty food, hot food, or
meat, and they did not take regular exercises for keeping their
health at all. With the findings, the educational program was
suggested to promote their health-related lifestyles.
