지능수행과 실행통제능력 간의 관계를 알아보기 위해서 만 3-5세 유아 80명 및 그들의 교사 를 대상으로 한국 웩슬러 유아지능검사 4판(K-WPSSI-Ⅳ)과 교사용(BRIEF-T)실행통제능력검사 를 실시하였다. 한국유아의 지능은 미국유아의 지능에 비해 동작성, 속도검사들에서는 높은 편이나 언어성 검사들에서는 낮은 수행을 보였다. 일부 검사들에서 연령과 성에 따른 유의한 차이가 있었고 지능의 수행에 있어서 연령과 성에 따른 일관적인 차이가 없었다. 실행통제능 력은 5세 미만 유아보다 5세 이상의 유아가, 그리고 여아가 남아보다 높게 나타났다. 실행통 제능력의 하위요인 중 작업기억, 억제, 계획조직이 유아의 전체지능 및 지능의 하위요인들과 정적 상관을 나타내었다. 후속연구에서는 실행기능이 지능수행에 미치는 과정을 보다 잘 이 해하기 위해 실행통제능력에 대한 직접적인 행동측정을 할 필요가 있다.
This study analyzed the relation between performances in K-WPPSI-IV and executive control abilities with eighty 3-5 year olds and their teachers. K-WPPSI-IV was administered individually and BRIEF-T ratings by teachers were collected. First, Korean children outperformed American children in performance subtests or subtests with speed limits but showed lower performance than American counterparts in verbal subtests. There were no consistent age or gender differences in K-WPPSI-IV. However, there were consistent age and gender differences in executive control abilities: Older children performed higher than younger children and girls performed higher than boys. There were significant correlations among total IQ and indices of K-WPPSI-IV and working memory, inhibition and plan/organization of BRIEF-T. Later studies need to measure behavioral outcomes of executive control function in order to better understand underlying mechanism of its contribution for intellectual performance.
