The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the emotional labor
and LMX(leader-member exchange), LMX and employee attitude in hotel industry. In
this study, greatly three hypotheses based on literature reviews was possible. A
questionnaire was also developed based on previous studies. A convenience sample of 300
hotel employees was surveyed and a total of 286 usable questionnaires were analyzed.
Then the data and hypotheses were examined using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 20.0. The
results are as follows. Firstly, emotional labor was divided into deep acting and surface
acting by the literature review. Analysis showed that only deep acting has effects on
LMX. Secondly, LMX has effect on employee attitude. Thirdly, emotional labor has
partialy effects on employee attitude. Thus, Continuous and systematic LMX should be
conducted to administer 'emotional labor'.
