The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of Reality Therapy Basic Practicum experiences upon the
participants’ internal control, interpersonal relationship and psychological well-being of graduate students in master
program of counseling, who had completed the Basic Intensive Week Training developed by W. Glasser. In this
research, Eighteen graduate students of K university in Daegu participated in the study. Nine graduate students were
assigned in the comparative group, and the other 9 students in the experimental group. The experimental group was
given over 30 hour supervision from September 2014 to February 2015. The members were asked to do activities
including individual counseling, presentation of the summary of 2 Reality Therapy related books, mini-lectures and
role-plays. The researcher, a basic Practicum supervisor of Reality Therapy led the group as the supervisor. The
instruments used were ‘The scale of Internal control(Park, Kim, 2004)’, ‘Korean version of Relationship Change Scale:
RSC(Jeon, 1994)’, ‘Concise Measure Of Subjective Well-Being: COMOSWB(Seo & Gu, 2011)’. The data were
analysed using the ANCOVA of the SPSS 21.0. And for the qualitative analysis Giorgi's method was used. The
results of the study were as follows. First the Reality Therapy Basic Practicum training of the study resulted in
meaningful improvement of internal control, interpersonal relationship, and enhancement of psychological well-being.
The result of qualitative analysis showed that it has contributed to the improvement of internal control by
recognizing oneself who got used to be external control. And it could draw a conclusion that training of the Reality
Therapy Basic Practicum Supervising improves the way of efficient thoughts and behavior so that it could enhance
the level of psychological well-being and encourage the activity of counseling as a therapist.
