본 연구는 과학수업에서의 과학탐구의 비계로 제공되는 Science Writing Heuristic(SWH) template의 잠재적 활용에 대한 탐색을 하고자 하였다. 예비 초등교사를 대상으로 한 과학방법론 강의에서 초등과학 수준의 과학탐구를 시행하는 데 SWH template가 사용되었다. 본 연구는 학생의 탐구를 보조하며, 학생들 스스로 자신의 주장을 만들어가는 데에 SWH template이 어떻게 활용되는 지를 분석하였다. 초등교과서의 빛에너지, 자기에너지, 열에너지 등 에너지 관련 과학 탐구를 선택하여 예비교사에게 과학탐구활동을 하도록 하였다. 이 연구는 SWH template가 단순한 글쓰기에 초점을 맞추지 않고 자기 발견적 탐구에 초점을 맞춘다는 점을 부각하고 탐색하려 하였다. 이런 맥락에서 연구결과는 교사나 교과서가 제시한 실험의 안내를 따라 하는 것을 지양하고, 과학적 수행으로 과학수업의 방향을 바꾸어가는데 SWH template가 어떤 역할을 할 수 있는가를 나타내고 있다. 또한 학생의 SWH template 분석을 통해 증거와 사전 이론의 일치도에 따른 4가지 유형 사례가 발견되었다.
This study explores the potential use of Science Writing Heuristic (SWH) template provided as scaffolding in science class focusing on practicing scientific inquiry. In Science Methods course for pre-service elementary teachers, SWH template was used in working with elementary level science inquiries. In this study SWH templates of pre-service students were analyzed in terms of how they made their own scientific claims by using observation as evidences. Among science inquiry in elementary textbook, activity involved with the energy concept including light energy, heat energy, and magnetic energy. This study analyzed how SWH templates worked for facilitating students' inquiry and making their own claims. This study tried to view and explore SWH template focusing not on a part of ‘writing’ but ‘heuristic’. In that context the research finding tried to describe SWH template with scaffolding as emphasizing its function of making science class move toward ‘scientific practice’ away from following the given experiment direction of teachers or textbook. Four types of coordinating theories with evidences were found from the template investigation as well.
