The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the integrated
arts therapy to the middle-aged women with mourning and self-esteem. 16
women participants of 40~59 year-old local residents with bereavement
through the online and offline want ad at community welfare centers in B
city and were divided into two each group of 8 as a control or an
experimental group. Integrated arts therapy was carried out for the
experimental group for 10 sessions of 120 minutes once a week from 2014.
July 22nd to Sep. 30th. Mourning and self-esteem scale were carried out as
pre and post test, and. MANCOVA was used to show the significance. The
results are as follows: First, in the sub scales of mourning, the shock and
confusion from the loss and the loss of pain was significantly reduced. And
the growth and recovery of life were significantly increased. Second, in the
sub scale of self-esteem, self enhancement, relationships with others,
assertiveness and confidence have increased significantly. According to the
results, this program was useful to improve the mourning and
self-esteem of the middle-aged women. Finally, the implications and limits of
this study were discussed.
