The purpose of this study is to analyze the traits on the cognitive and affective learning style of
university students by CSAT grades. CALSIU(The Cognitive & Affective Learning Style Inventory for
University School Students) by Kim, E. J. was modified for applying to university students and performed
with 1,025 university students from seven universities in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daejeon and Jeonju, Chungnam.
Statistical analysis done in this study were ANOVA and Scheffe’s test. Findings of the study are as
follows : First, the students with high CSAT grades have high intuitive perception, whole processing, and
deep storage & recall traits. They have low non-academic trait. But the students with low CSAT grades
have strong non-academic learning trait. Secondly, the students with independent type get high academic
achievements. Therefore, parents and instructors should consider the cognitive and affective learning styles
of students and teach them the learning strategies of getting overviews of context, in depth, of studying
independently.
