Starting with the 1982 UNESCO cultural landscape has increasingly emphasized in
sociocultural nature. In this paper, we study for ways to leverage as open-air museum
which rising as new topic by high preservation value in addition to a traditional role
of museums. For this study, suggest that open-air museum utilization colored with
collaboration of human & nature and mixed heritage compared with each advanced
research through concepts and examples of cultural landscape, concepts and examples
of open-air museum can be alternatives to preserve the cultural landscape.
In case of Korea’s UNESCO registered list, Hahoe Village and Yangdong Village
is example of ‘organically evolved landscapes’, By leveraging open-air museum, can
know its suitable as way to preserve the outstanding universal value with direct visitors
experiencing a physical and mental products that represent relation build between
human and nature as variety in the lives of real people. On the other hand, it has
advantage that it is possible to preserve, collect and educate intangible values such as
history and customs however, problems like destruction of natural landscapes and
cultural assets, also consultation of local residents require the related discussion.
