Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the difference of cultural competence and empathic ability according
to multi-cultural experience of nursing students. Method: The participants included 170 nursing students who agreed to
in this study. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires that were constructed to include scales to measure
cultural competence and empathic ability. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and pearson corelation coefficients with
SPSS/WIN 21.0. Result: The analysis identified the difference of cultural competence according to grade(F=3.69, p=.013),
experience of attending multi-cultural classes(F=11.2 p=.001) and experience of attending multi-cultural events(F=5.18,
p=.024) of nursing students and analysis identified the difference of empathic ability according to gender(F=4.55, p=.034),
experience of attending multi-cultural classes(F=24.3, p=.000) and experience of attending multi-cultural events(F=8.91,
p=.003) of nursing students. Conclusion: The findings of this study will provide fundamental data about multi-cultural education
program for nursing students.
