Objective : The purpose of this research was to investigate the percentage of employment in the elderly in
Busan, how they rank on the Loyala Generativity scale and how high their Life Satisfaction is,
and then to use these results in occupational training for the elderly.
Methods : This study was carried out with 164 Busan citizens of 45 years and older. The Loyala Generativity
Scale (Score 0 to 3) and Life Satisfaction Scale (Score 0 to 2) were used. The study period was
from April 1 to April 15, 2016. The Statistical analysis was conducted with SPSS Statistics V
22.0.
Results : Elderly who were employed showed higher Loyala Generativity Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale
than unemployed elderly. Furthermore the study showed a positive corelation between job
satisfaction and Loyala Generativity Scale as well as Life Satisfaction Scale.
Conclusion : This study confirmed previous findings of correlation between employment, employment satisfaction
and Loyala Generativity score, but also found a positive corelation between Loyala Generativity
and Life Satisfaction score. Overall social interactions of the elderly in the form of an occupation
seem to be beneficial for their life satisfaction.
