Crime victim is an issue that is coped and solved in a social level, because it has an negative impact
not only on a person, but also on a society in general. Crime victim support centers were founded in
2005 with the aim of supporting and protecting of crime victims and their family members. In terms of
supporting for victims, the role of a private organization is very important, because it is able to provide
effective community-base services for victims. Depending on centers, its’ structure and organization are
various, but in general, it is consisted of board of directors, secretariat, specialized committee, and
volunteers. Due to the character of a private organization, volunteer activities in the center is an vital
factor in considering various service offering and community connection.
In this sense, this article particularly focused on the actual state, role, and training contents for
volunteers using literature reviews. Through this analysis, this study aimed to explore the activation
strategy for volunteers in order to provide effective services for victims. In conclusion, recruiting an active
volunteer through a consistent and various way of public relations, providing regular and systematic
training programs such as eLearing for volunteers, introducing step-up education process and the contents
reflecting on the victims’ perspectives, reinforcing a intensive ethics training and humanism education, and
offering an resonable compensation were suggested.
