미술치료는 환자 및 내담자의 심리 문제와 정신병리와 재활과 관련한 효과성 검증연구와 사례연구 등을 많 이 다룬다. 이에 비해 미술, 미술매체, 미술의 특성과 창의성 및 창의적 과정의 치료적 의미에 대한 논의는 부 족하다. 이에 근거하여 본 연구는 미술치료에서 미술의 특성과 창의성 및 창의적 과정의 치료적 의미를 살펴보 고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 미술치료에서 미술의 특성을 시각언어, 미적 감각경험, 정서표현, 상징화 과정, 카 타르시스와 의사소통으로 분류하여 치료적 의미를 고찰하였다. 또한 창의성 개념과 특성을 살피고 창의적 과정 을 제시하여 치료적 의미와 연결하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 미술의 특성과 창의성과 창의적 과정은 미술치료 정체성의 기초가 되며 또한 이 주제에 대한 심도 있는 연구가 더 필요하다고 사료된다.
Many research studies and case studies on art therapy are associated with psychological problems and mental illness, and rehabilitation of patients and clients. In contrast, discussions on art, art media, the characteristics of art, and the therapeutic meaning of creativity and the creative process are lacking. Based on this phenomenon, in this study, the characteristics of art and the therapeutic meaning of creativity and the creative process in art therapy were studied. The characteristics of art in art therapy with visual language, experience of aesthetic sense, emotional expression, symbolization process, catharsis, and communication were classified and investigated. In addition, the concept of creativity, its characteristics and the creative process were also used and associated with the therapeutic meanings. The results of the analysis suggest that the characteristics of art and creativity and the creative process should be reconsidered as the basis of art therapy identity, but more in-depth studies on this subject are necessary.
