The purpose of this study were to analyze qualitative research in the field of
visual impairment study. For those purposes, the investigator collected qualitative
researches in the field of visual impairment published in domestic journals between
2006 and 2015 and analyzed them with COREQ. The analysis results show that the
most researches(50%) were published in Korean Journal of Visual Impairment and
during the period of 2010~2012. The COREQ analysis results indicate that the
identity of interviewer and the reason for the interviewer's research with the
participants were most stated in the areas of researchers' characteristics and
relations between the researchers and participants, respectively, which were in
Domain 1. Qualitative methodologies were used in various ways according to the
research types in the area of theoretical frameworks in Domain 2. The area of
participant selection showed the approaches to participants clearly. The area of
environment offered good explanations about the samples, and that of data collection
stated the utilization of audio or video recording most. In Domain 3, the area of data
analysis stated the number of participants in data coding most, whereas the area of
reports stated quotations most. Based on those analysis results, the study proposed
future tasks for qualitative researches in the field of visual impairment. Those
analysis results will also serve as basic data to search for future directions for
qualitative researches on visual impairment.
