This study reviewed the adjustment types of north Korean youth defectors and adjustment support policy in Korea in order to provide basic data for integrated policy and to suggest a developmental direction for their successful adjustment to Korean society. Research results indicate that religion, friend relationship, communication for cultural adjustment and school adaptation for psychosocial adjustment function as major factors for successful adjustment of north Korean youth defectors. Recommendations of policy intervention of welfare benefits for them to be treated as the same subject of young Koreans are suggested. Also integrated education system accepting educational curriculum in north Korea as they already experienced as the same curriculum in Korea are emphasized.
