본 연구는 현재 우리나라에서 실시되고 있는 공학교육인증 평가체제에 대한 메타평 가로, 공학분야에 대한 고등교육의 질 관리를 위해 도입된 공학교육인증 평가체제를 종합적․체계적으로 평가하고, 공학교육 인증제도의 가치 및 방향 정립과 개선 방안 수 립을 위한 유용한 시사점을 제공하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 수행한 연구의 주요 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공학교육인증 평가체제에 대한 메타평가를 실시하고 결과를 분석하였다. 둘째, 메타평가 결과에서 나타난 한국 공학교 육 인증평가의 문제점과 개선을 위한 시사점을 도출하였다. 본 연구에서 활용한 주요 연구 방법은 문헌고찰, 전문가 면담, 설문조사, 서술식 의견 및 2차 자료 분석 등이다. 연구의 결과 및 결론을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 현행 공학교육인증 평가체제는 전 반적으로 높게 평가되지 못하고 있어 앞으로 인증평가의 질을 높이기 위해서는 특히 평가의 대외환경, 인적 자원, 인증기준, 평가 영향, 개선에 대해 중점적으로 관심을 기 울이고 개선 노력을 집중할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 우리나라의 공학교육인증 평가체제는 평가환경, 평가투입, 평가수행, 평가결과, 그리고 평가활용에서 다양한 문제점이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 공학교육 인증평가가 의미 있는 제도로 자리매김하기 위하여 인증평 가 결과의 사회 및 정책 측면에서의 활용성을 제고해야 하고, 인증평가 또한 지속적인 자기 점검과 개선을 통해 신뢰와 권위를 확보해야 할 것이다.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate Engineering Educations Accreditation System of Korea. This will provide useful implications for establishing value, direction, and improvement remedy for Engineering Educations Accreditation System of Korea. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, major subjects of the research were set up as follows: First, Meta-Evaluation by developed Meta-Evaluation Criteria was conducted on Engineering Education Accreditation Evaluation System on trial and results were analyzed statistically. Second, problems and implications for the improvement of the Accreditation Evaluation System of Engineering Education in Korea were drawn. The research methodology used to study these subjects: literature review, interviews with experts, Delphi survey (three times), survey, analysis of narrative opinion and secondary source. The results and conclusions of this study are summarized as follows: First, the current Accreditation Evaluation System of Engineering Education in Korea was not positively assessed in general. Therefore, to improve quality of Accreditation Evaluation System of Engineering Education, intensive attention and efforts for improvement is necessary on: ‘external environment of evaluation’, ‘human resources’, ‘accreditation criteria’, ‘accreditation evaluation effect’, and ‘accreditation evaluation improvement’. Second, major problems and implications for the improvement of the Accreditation Evaluation System of Engineering Education in Korea. Therefore to improve the quality of Accreditation Evaluation of Engineering Education it is necessary to establish a connection and cooperative system among stakeholders in the country and to secure outstanding evaluators and dedicated personnel. Especially for accreditation criteria, it is critical that there is in depth research and improvement into contents and structure. In conclusion, for Accreditation Evaluation of Engineering Education’s system to become meaningful, its utilizability to society and policy should increase. The Accreditation Evaluation through continuous self inspection and improvement should secure trust and authority.
