This study is intended to explore the disciplinary identity of the politics of education in an effort of establishing its academic status developed continuously since 1994. To attain the purpose it unravels the characteristics of educational politics and the perspectives of it inquiry, and analyzes and diagnoses its identity from the views of scientific, boundary, and scholarly group identity which are conceptualized to mean the identity of an academic discipline. As a result, academic identity of educational politics have progressed a little in each area of identity, but have been sluggish in combined effort of them. Finally, this study suggests the tasks in order to establish the disciplinary identity of the politics of education as the followings: (1) to construct scholars' continuous research competency for stabilizing research paradigms and settling the discipline down into the nation, (2) to develop various research themes and methods for improving cohesiveness and bond of academic community, and (3) to scrutinize theoretical system, concepts, and methodology of the politics of education as an integrated and interdisciplinary field.
