이 연구는 현재 교육학과의 학부, 일반대학원 석･박사과정, 교육대학원(교육행정 전 공) 등에서 교육정치학 과목을 개설한 현황과 교육과정, 교재 등을 비교･분석하였고, 미국의 교육정치학 교육과정과의 비교를 통해 시사점을 도출하였으며, 이를 토대로 향 후 교육정치학 교육의 활성화를 위한 논의를 전개하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 교육정치학 교과 개설은 일반대학원과 교육대학원 수준에서 16-22% 정도로서 대부분의 대학원에 교육정치학 과목이 개설되어 있는 미국과는 상당한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 한국이나 미 국 모두 대부분이 교육정치학 교과목의 강의목표와 강의내용이 교육정치학 관련 이론 이해와 실제적 내용 중심으로 이루어져 있었다. 다만, 한국은 교육선발, 교원정책, 교육 과정, 교육재정, 교육복지 등 대주제 중심으로 진행되고 있었지만, 미국은 교육지배구 조 시스템에 대한 소개와 그에 따른 권력구조에 대한 내용 중심으로 진행되고 있었다. 교수방법에서도 한국이나 미국 대부분이 강의, 발표와 토론 중심으로 진행되고 있었고, 학습평가는 중간고사, 기말고사와 더불어 수업참여도, 출석 등의 기준을 반영하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다만, 미국에서의 학습평가는 퀴즈, 북 리뷰, 집단연구, 주제별 에세 이 형태의 글쓰기 등 다소 다양한 기준을 채택하고 있었다. 이를 토대로 이 연구에서 는 교육정치학의 학문적 경계 및 정체성 확립을 위한 노력, 학습내용 영역의 확대와 교재개발, 정치교육의 확대를 위한 노력, 교육정치학 교육과정 개발 등 교육정치학 교 육의 활성화를 위한 논의 과제를 제시하였다.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the current situation of goals, contends, textbooks, and test results in the courses of the politics of education, compared with the US graduate schools’ cases and to discuss on revitalize the curriculum of the politics of education area opened in the level of undergraduate and graduate programs. This study found that the courses of the politics of education area in the level of undergraduate and graduate programs were opened 16~22% in Korea. On the other hand, the courses of the politics of education area in the level of graduate programs were almost opened 100% in US. Second, the goals and contends in the courses of the politics of education focused on theoretical background and realities of political perspectives in education in Korea as well as US. Otherwise, they focused on big issues such as teachers policy, curriculum policy, educational finance policy, etc..in Korea, but on contends of educational governance and power structure in US. Finally, several implications for future research were discussed concerning the identity of politics of education, the extension of learning contends and textbook development, the emphasis of a political education.
