본 연구는 근거이론방법을 적용하여 발달장애청소년 어머니가 자녀를 위해 프 로그램을 선택하는 과정을 이해하기 위해 진행되었다. 연구를 위해 발달장애청소 년 어머니를 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하고 총 12건의 인터뷰 자료를 분석하 였다. 개방코딩과정에서 총 114개의 개념과 39개의 하위범주, 17개의 범주를 도 출하였다. 발달장애청소년 어머니가 프로그램 선택하는 과정의 핵심 범주는 ‘주 어진 한계와 관계 속에서 프로그램 2차 선택하기’였으며, 어머니들은 ‘다양한 루 트 속에서 욕구와 기대에 따른 프로그램 검토’, ‘프로그램 진입과 진행과정 경험 하기’, ‘제한적이고 모호한 정보 속에서 나름의 판단을 지속해 나가기’, ‘자녀와 동료구성원 살펴보기’, ‘주어진 한계와 관계 속에서 프로그램 2차 선택하기’, ‘양 면의 삶 속에서 불안과 스트레스에 대처하기’라는 일련의 과정을 경험하였다. 발달장애청소년 어머니의 프로그램 2차 선택의 양상은 ‘선택 대안의 양과 질 에 대한 인식’, ‘돌발행동과 상황을 둘러싼 관계 인식’을 고려하여 6가지 유형으 로 제시되었다. 더불어 발달장애청소년 개인, 또래, 장애인 기관의 서비스 환경, 지역사회 환경이 발달장애청소년 어머니의 상황경험과 대처양식에 어떠한 영향 을 미치는지 프로그램 선택 유형에 따라 검토하였다. 이러한 결과를 중심으로 연구와 실천 영역에서의 과제를 제시하였다. 연구영역에 서의 과제는 이번 연구를 통해 도출된 프로그램 선택 고려 요소들의 우선순위에 대 한 실증적 검토, 프로그램 참여를 둘러싼 발달장애청소년의 의사결정 참여 과정과 가 족들의 절충방식에 대한 탐구이다. 또한 실천영역에서는 발달장애청소년의 돌발행동 (공격행동, 방해행동 등)을 둘러싼 어머니들 사이의 관계 개선하고 중재하기 위한 접 근 마련, 이러한 행동에 대처하기 위한 지원서비스 마련이라는 과제가 제시되었다.
This study was conducted to understand the program choice processes of the mothers rearing the developmental disabled youths based on the grounded theory methodology. For this purpose, we conducted 12 in-depth interviews for the mothers of the developmental disabled youths and analyzed interviews. This led us to find total 114 concepts, 39 subcategories and 17 categories. The core category of the mothers’ experience is ‘the second choice within the given alternatives and peer relationships’. In this standpoint we can find a series of process categories which are ‘Discerning the programs by needs and expectations from various information sources’, ‘Experiencing the program entry and processes’, ‘Assessing program subjectively among the limited and ambiguous informations’, ‘Reviewing her child and peer program members’, ‘Making the second choice within the given alternatives and peer relationships’ and ‘Managing anxieties and stresses among multiple roles’ This story led us to find the 6 styles of the choices, which are matrices of the alternatives perception and peer relationships perception. In addition we inquired into the ecosystems influences on the mothers’ situation experiences and coping styles by the mothers’ program choice styles. Two research tasks and practical tasks are presented each by this research results. The tasks in research fields are ‘Empirical study on the program choice priorities’ and ‘Exploratory study on the disabled youths’ self-directed choices about the program participation and negotiation processes within families’, The tasks in practical fields are ‘approach on the relationship improvement of the mothers regarding the children’s challenging behaviors’ and ‘providing positive behavior support programs’.
