이 연구는 특수교육 기본 교육과정 교과서의 활용 실태에 대한 특수교육교사들의 인식 및 요구 를 분석하고, 이를 토대로 향후 개발될 교과서의 적극적인 활용 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 ‘2015～17년 특수교육 국정 교과용도서 편찬’에 참여하고 있는 교사 191명이 응답한 설문 조사 결과를 분석하였고, 그 결과에 대하여 6명의 전문가들을 대상으로 2차 서면조사를 실시 하였다. 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전반적으로 수업시간 중 특수교육교사들의 기본 교육과정 교과서 활용 정도는 매우 낮은 것으로 나타났고, 교과서를 많이 활용하지 못하는 이유로 는 기본 교육과정 교과서가 학생들의 수준에 맞지 않아서라는 응답이 가장 많았다. 둘째, 대부분 의 특수교육교사들은 기본 교육과정 교과서 이외의 다른 학습교재를 사용하고 있으며, 주로 자체 제작한 학습자료 및 학습지를 사용하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 현행 기본 교육과정 교과서 를 활용하여 수업을 할 때, 학생들의 수업 호응도가 높다는 의견은 전체의 58.2%, 낮다는 의견은 전체의 41.9%로 상반된 의견을 보이고 있다. 초등학교 교사에 비해 중·고등학교 교사가, 특수학교 교사에 비해 특수학급 교사가 교과서 활용 수업에서 학생들의 호응도를 더 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 기본 교육과정 교과서의 적극적인 활용 방안에 대하여 논의 하였다.
This study is to analyze the recognition and demands of special education teachers regarding the use of textbooks for the basic curriculum of special education and to explore the active utilization of the textbooks to be developed in the future based on this analysis. For this, the results of the survey answered by 191 teachers participating in 'the development of the national textbooks for the special education from 2015 to 2017' were analyzed and the in-depth interviews with 6 experts regarding its results was conducted. The key results of the study are as follows. Firstly, it is found that in general, the degree of the used textbooks for the basic curriculum by the special education teachers has been critically low and the commonest reason for that is that the textbooks for the basic curriculum are not adapted to the students. Secondly, most special education teachers are found to use the learning materials other than the textbooks for the basic curriculum and found to usually use the learning materials and workbooks of their own making. Thirdly, there are the conflicting opinions on the student responsiveness in the class using the current textbooks for the basic curriculum; 52.8% of all teachers answer that the current textbooks have drawn the active response of the students to the class but 41.9 answer that they have not. It is found that the high school teachers have recognized much higher level of the students' response to the class using the textbooks compared to the middle school teachers and the special class teachers have done the same compared to the special school teachers. The active utilization of the textbooks for the basic curriculum has been discussed based on the results of this study.
