This study aims to consider all the addictive behaviors which our youth could contact
and to develop self-diagnosis scale reflecting unique characteristics appearing in our
leisure culture. For this, this study went through question development, preliminary
survey, and main survey stage through literature review and open questionnaires.
During the question development stage, inductive category classification method was
utilized in order to analyze collected data. During the preliminary survey stage, total
200 university students over the age of 20 but under the age of 24 with a tendency
of leisure addiction were selected utilizing purposive sampling method, and 188
questionnaires excluding unfaithful 12 responses were used for data analysis. During
the main survey stage, total 500 students composed of 250 middle/high school
students and 250 university students with a tendency of leisure addiction were
selected through assistance of class teachers, relevant teachers, and counseling
teachers, and total 417 questionnaires excluding unfaithful 83 responses were used for
data analysis. Exploratory factor analysis, item analysis, reliability analysis,
confirmatory factor analysis, and correlation for the external structural review were
used for data analysis. Following is the research result. First, the first item was
developed with total 25 items of 4 factors. Second, the preliminary survey stage was
developed with total 18 items of 4 factors. Third, the main survey stage as validity
verification was finally decided with 5 items of daily living difficulty, 3 items of
tolerance, 4 items of withdrawal and obsession, which means 15 items of 4 factors. If
the research result is utilized, it will give a help for home, school field and related
organizations to early discover, control youth leisure addiction and then, to develop
suitable intervention techniques.
